Studying Co-Ethnic Voting

This week, GDL hosted Professor Carl Müller-Crepon (LSE), who presented a working paper titled “Co-ethnics Co-vote in Africa: Studying Electoral Cleavages with a Co-Voting Regression Model” (with Nils-Christian Bormann). In this paper, they develop a Co-Voting Regression model which estimates the effect of co-ethnicity on the probability that pairs of voters co-vote for the same party/candidate while conditioning on other characteristics that connect voters.
