The Global Diversity Lab was delighted to host Professor Prerna Singh (Brown University) for an engaging presentation and discussion of her working paper “National narratives and norm violations: Sanctioning Co-ethnics during the COVID-19 pandemic in India.” In this paper, which is co-authored with Sebastian Lucek (Stanford University) and Saurabh Pant, Professor Singh finds that exposure to an inclusive national narrative triggered Hindu insecurity vis-à-vis Muslims in India and greater policing of Hindu in-group members who violated COVID-19 policies.
